Overview
The Honours program in Actuarial Studies provides advanced training in risk modelling, statistical analysis, and actuarial mathematics. It builds on a solid foundation of actuarial knowledge while developing your research, problem-solving, and communication skills. The program equips you to address complex issues in insurance, superannuation, investments, and risk management, drawing on techniques from statistics, econometrics, financial economics, and data analytics. Graduates are well prepared for industry careers in actuarial science and financial risk management, as well as for pursuing a PhD or other research-focused postgraduate study.
As part of the Honours year, you will complete key components of the Actuary Program accredited by the Actuaries Institute (Australia). In particular, the Actuarial Control Cycle (ACC) and Data Science Principles (DSP) subjects can be undertaken within the Honours structure, providing the opportunity to gain the corresponding actuarial exemptions. You will leave the program not only with highly sought-after technical skills but also with the confidence and curiosity to tackle real-world problems, make informed decisions, and shape the future of the actuarial profession.
