Overview
Artificial intelligence algorithms and models develops the mathematical, computational and technical foundations needed to understand, design and evaluate artificial intelligence algorithms and model-based systems. You will build capability in calculus, linear algebra, responsible data use, artificial intelligence foundations, reasoning with data and deep learning, before extending into advanced artificial intelligence topics.
The major is designed for students who want deeper technical engagement with how artificial intelligence works. You will study the algorithms, models and mathematical ideas that underpin contemporary artificial intelligence, with options to explore embodied artificial intelligence, generative artificial intelligence, symbolic artificial intelligence and machine learning, optimisation and reinforcement learning, and advanced topics in artificial intelligence.
This major prepares you for roles and further study involving machine learning, artificial intelligence engineering, model development, intelligent systems, optimisation, robotics, generative artificial intelligence, research-informed technical practice and advanced computational problem solving.
Availability
Artificial intelligence algorithms and models is listed in C2000 Bachelor of Information Technology at Clayton as a major.
