Overview
The Business Law and Taxation PhD Program enables you to undertake independent, high-impact research to drive regulatory innovations and ethical business practice. You will design and deliver an original, academically rigorous research project under expert supervision, engaging with real-world regulatory challenges affecting business and policy. You will develop advanced skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and scholarly communication, alongside the ethical and responsible use of digital and AI tools in legal research. This program prepares you for careers in academia, public policy, and professional practice by equipping you to generate original insights into complex and contemporary regulatory issues in a global context.

Coursework component
Students are required to complete and pass two coursework units, the assessment of which is conducted in accordance with the University’s Assessment in Coursework Units policy and supporting procedures. It is recommended that the units be completed prior to confirmation.
Students would normally complete the following core double-weighted coursework unit (equivalent to 2 units):
