Overview
A business law major develops specialised knowledge of how legal rules shape the conduct of (and decision-making in) business organisations in Australia and abroad. You will examine how common law rules and legislation apply to business problems, scenarios, and decision-making. Within this major, you will develop critical thinking and problem solving skills by applying disciplinary knowledge in subject areas such as business law, corporations law, marketing law, human rights and global business, banking law, sustainability regulation, insolvency and reconstruction law, employment law, taxation law, and international trade law. You will also have the opportunity to explore how technology affects risk and regulation in the digital age, to explore how and why AI and other digital tools can be employed responsibly in business law contexts, and to develop research skills through the completion of a research project unit. By studying a business law major, you will gain a firm understanding of the legal dimensions of business practice and secure the ability to appreciate legal opportunities and risk in business decision-making.
