Overview

Computer science develops the mathematical, theoretical and systems foundations needed to understand computation in depth and build efficient, reliable software. You will study discrete mathematics, calculus and linear algebra, computer architecture and operating systems, data structures and algorithms, and programming paradigms, developing the core ways of thinking that underpin advanced computer science.

In this major, you will gain rigorous technical knowledge and skills in computation, algorithms, systems and software. You will build capability in algorithmic problem solving, program design, computational reasoning, systems execution, and advanced data structures, with options to extend into compilers, complexity and intractability, high-performance parallel and distributed computing, computational logic, automated reasoning and advanced algorithms.

This major prepares you for roles and further study involving algorithms, systems programming, high-performance computing, programming languages, computational logic, research-informed technical practice and advanced computational problem solving.

Availability
