Overview
This program provides Master of Advanced Study (Engineering Research) students with the opportunity to focus on developing knowledge and expertise in their chosen discipline, as well as developing professional skills that will support their career ambitions.
Each student's research will be supported by the development of a range of skills that will help them to become more efficient researchers, ultimately improving the quality of the research and developing generic/transferable skills of value to prospective employers.
This program is also applicable to students studying externally.

Program requirements
All students will be required to undertake compulsory training in the following areas:
- Monash Graduate Research Induction (online)
- Research Integrity (online)
- Respectful Research at Monash (online)
- Cultural Foundations: Building your knowledge of Australia's First Peoples (online)
- any Faculty induction, program or training requirements, including occupational health and safety.
All students must complete (or receive credit for) the following compulsory coursework units:
Coursework component
Depending on prior qualifications you may be eligible to receive credit for some of the coursework component. This will enable you to spend more time on your thesis or submit at an earlier date.
Note: If you are eligible for credit, you may elect not to accept the offer of credit and complete the coursework component.
All Master of Advanced Study (Engineering Research) students must undertake and pass the required coursework units, which will be marked to a pass grade only marking schema. It is recommended that all coursework units be completed in the first year of study. In consultation with their supervisor/s, other required units can be selected from the coursework component list.
Conditions of enrolment
As a student of the university, you will be required to abide by all relevant statutes, regulations, policies and procedures. This includes maintaining satisfactory progress via regular milestone reviews in accordance with the Graduate Research Progress Management policy and procedures, ensuring you are undertaking research of an appropriate quality and scale as required by your course.
