Requisite map

Overview

Intelligent manufacturing involves creative problem-solving techniques being applied to various manufacturing processes to produce any specific components required to build a product or a functional system at any scale. Any physical component would benefit from a good design and broad knowledge of manufacturing processes to achieve high demand while keeping the production cost low without compromising on the quality of the product. This minor provides the foundation for future engineers to create new products, technologies and automation techniques catering to the demands of the fast-paced world.

Availability
The Intelligent manufacturing minor is available only to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (E3001) in Malaysia, specialising in Chemical engineering, Electrical and computer systems engineering, Mechanical engineering or Robotics and mechatronics engineering.

The minor is not available to the Civil engineering and Software engineering specialisations.

Rules
The Intelligent manufacturing minor is only available to students enrolled in the single degree E3001 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).

You must complete the unit requirements as specified for your engineering specialisation.

Note: This minor is only available to those completing one of the following specialisations: Chemical engineering, Electrical and computer systems engineering, Mechanical engineering, or Robotics and mechatronics engineering.

Notes

The BE(Hons) course requires 36 credit points of Engineering electives across Years 2, 3 and 4. These electives must comprise:

• 12 credit points of Level 1, 2 or 3 Engineering elective units; and

• 24 credit points of Level 3 or 4 Engineering units.

Of the 36 credit points of electives, 24 credit points may be used to complete an Engineering minor (four units).

If you commence an Engineering minor but do not complete all four units, any units you have successfully completed towards the minor will count as Engineering electives. You must then complete sufficient additional Engineering electives to meet the overall 36 credit-point elective requirement and the requirements for the level of study specified above.

Please plan your enrolment carefully to ensure you continue to meet the course requirements and remain on track to complete your course within the expected timeframe. Refer to your course map and seek course advice.

Note 1: Level 1 units across your entire course, including core and elective units, must not exceed 60 credit points in total.

Note 2: This Area of Study was previously coded as INTMFMNR01.
