Overview

The Public relations minor will introduce you to the various processes of strategic communication aimed at developing mutually beneficial relationships between organisations and the public. You will become familiar with the public relations and public communication practices that organisations such as governments, corporations, international organisations and non-governmental organisations engage in to portray and position themselves strategically to a general public or specialised publics. The emphasis is on gaining a broad understanding of the function of public relations in the contemporary, digitally mediated world while also learning the craft of designing and implementing public relations campaigns through case studies that also reveal the potential challenges faced by public relations practitioners in the current social and political climate.
