The course comprises 24 credit points of study which provide knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required of skilled practitioners working in a range of fields addressing journalism.

Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that you will be able to:

explain the history, role and function of journalism and the news media in local, national, regional and global contexts;

recognise professional journalism ethics, in the pursuit of truth, accuracy and fairness, and in service of the democratic process and the public right to know;

analyse and critically evaluate journalism theory and its application in professional practice and scholarship;

utilise research and reporting skills in a range of generic and digital media technologies and formats, for a diversity of people and cultures in a global society.

Monash Level A, that is:IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
