The handbook's description of this structure
The course is structured in three parts. Part A. Advanced preparatory, Part B. Mastery knowledge and Part C. Application studies.
Part A. Advanced preparatory
These studies will introduce you to core commerce disciplines and the impact they have within organisations. The units cover various disciplines and further your understanding of complex business environments.
Part B. Mastery knowledge
These units will provide you with a comprehensive study of banking and finance disciplines and the impact they have on decision-making in banks and institutions.
Part C. Application studies
The focus of these studies is professional or scholarly work that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development. You will be able to demonstrate your banking and finance knowledge and be able to apply these skills in banks and business enterprises.
Master's entry points
Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:
- If you are admitted at entry level 1 you complete 96 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B and Part C.
- If you are admitted at entry level 2 you complete 72 credit points, comprising Part B and Part C.
- If you are admitted at entry level 3 you complete 48 credit points, comprising Part B.
Note: Students eligible for credit for prior studies may elect not to receive the credit and complete one of the higher credit-point options.

Part B: Mastery knowledge (48 credit points)
You must complete eight units (48 credit points) from the following:

- BFF5915 Options, futures and risk management
- BFF5916 International banking
- BFF5926 Financial institutions and markets
- BFF5935 Portfolio management and theory

Part C: Application studies (24 credit points)
You complete four units (24 credit points) at either level 4 or 5. Elective units may be chosen from the Faculty of Business and Economics or across the University as long as you have the prerequisite and there are no restrictions on enrolment in the units.
