Overview
The Master of Business Management is an integrated and practical introduction to the practice of business management in a contemporary, dynamic and digital context. In this degree, you will learn how organisations can thrive in the context of digital disruption, transformation and accelerating technological change. With its part-time and online delivery, you can also fit study around your busy work and family commitments.
As a broad-based business degree, you will develop core business management knowledge and skills, then deep-dive into a selected professional specialist study or subject area, ranging from marketing, project management, analytics, health administration, human resources, and enterprise. It’s perfect if you want to prepare yourself for a leadership role and deepen knowledge in a specialist area, while also gaining the foundation of business leadership knowledge aligned to contemporary employability criteria. As part of the degree, you will also have the opportunity to develop your professional presence and behavioural attributes to equip you for a managerial career and apply the latest thinking and models for implementing transformational change. Ultimately, you will apply all of the skills you have developed by completing a management consulting project in a sector or business of your choice.

The handbook's description of this structure
This course is structured in three parts Part A: Business management foundation, Part B: Specialist studies, and Part C: Application studies.
Part A. Business management foundation
These studies will introduce you to business management practice at an advanced graduate level. They are designed to extend your ability to manage the organisation while building on existing professional work experience.
Part B. Specialist studies
The focus of these studies is to develop your expertise in a discipline and provide the knowledge and skills needed for the capacity to work and communicate across the borders of context or discipline.
Part C. Application studies
The focus of these studies is professional and project work that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development.
Master's entry points
Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:
- If you are admitted at entry level 1 you complete 72 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B and Part C
- If you are admitted at entry level 2 (via Monash University Graduate Certificate of Business Management) you complete 48 credit points, comprising Part B and Part C.
- If you are admitted at entry level 2 (via Monash University Graduate Certificate of Human Resource Management) you complete 48 credit points, comprising Part A and Part C
Note: If you are eligible for credit for prior studies you may elect not to receive the credit and complete one of the higher credit-point options.
