Master of Applied Econometrics

The Master of Applied Econometrics is structured in three parts, Part A. Advanced preparatory studies, Part B. Core studies and Part C. Elective studies. In the double degree course you complete:

Part A. Advanced preparatory studies

These studies will introduce you to econometrics at advanced undergraduate and graduate level, and are intended for students whose previous qualification is not in a cognate field.

Part B. Core studies

These studies will develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who is able to apply your knowledge of a specialised area to provide discipline based solutions.

Master of Advanced Finance

The Master of Advanced Finance is structured in three parts, Part A. Core studies, Part B. Discipline studies and Part C. Elective studies. In the double degree course you complete:

Part A. Core studies

These units will introduce current thinking and knowledge of new structures in the financial markets such as environmental finance, financial technology, behavioural finance and big data. It will provide the opportunity to pursue specialist studies and undertake units which will prepare you for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams. 

Part B. Discipline studies

These units will develop your understanding of the finance discipline and will enable you to provide discipline-based solutions within a business, professional or public context.

Depending upon prior qualifications, students may receive credit for part of the course.

Entry requirements

English language

Monash Level A, that is:  IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test.
