Overview

The Master of Management and Master of Public Policy offers you a multidisciplinary perspective on management and public policy. This double degree combines your knowledge of contemporary business and management leadership with practical knowledge and skills in policy-making and public sector management. By pursuing this double degree, you will develop into a leader capable of inspiring positive social and organisational change, as well as the effective delivery of public services and programs.

Course structure

Management component48 credit points
You must complete 48 credit points, including all of the requirements in Part A and Part B, for the Master of Management.
Public Policy component48 credit points
You must complete 48 credit points, including Part A: APG5101 Foundations of public policy, APG5102 Governance, APG5103 Policy analysis and APG5129 Evaluation (24 credit points), Part C (12 credit points) and Part D (12 credit points) for the single degree.

Master of Management

The Master of Management is structured in three parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Discipline studies and Part C. Elective studies. In the double degree course you complete: 

Part A. Core studies

These units will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of core management principles, contemporary practice and leadership and their impact on multi-discipline decision-making in organisations. These units will develop your capacity as an innovative future-ready professional who is able to apply specialist knowledge to complex management issues.

Part B. Discipline studies

These units develop your capacity as a critical and creative professional who can apply advanced management knowledge to analyse complex organisational issues. You will build the skills to evaluate theories, apply evidence-based practices, and design innovative solutions that enhance leadership, strategy, and sustainable performance in diverse organisational contexts. Selected units within this part are accredited by the Australian HR Institute (AHRI).

Master of Public Policy

The Master of Public Policy is structured in four parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Professional practice studies, Part C. Applied studies, and Part D. Specified elective studies. In the double degree course you complete: 

Part A. Core studies 

These studies will introduce you to public policy theory and practice at an advanced graduate level. Throughout these studies, you will gain practical knowledge and skills that will provide a solid foundation for the specialist studies units undertaken in the program.  

Part C. Applied studies

The focus of these studies is professional and project work, focused locally or globally, that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development. In this part of the program you can also undertake higher level research.

Part D. Specified elective studies

The focus of these studies is to develop your expertise in a specialisation: Policy studies or Global studies. These will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed for the capacity to work and communicate across the borders of context or discipline.
