Overview

Enrolment in a master's by research degree involves the independent investigation of a research problem that has been formulated by you as the student. It is expected that the research you undertake will make a contribution to the discipline in which you are enrolled by applying, critiquing, analysing or interpreting that knowledge in ways that facilitate pathways for further learning. You will be supported in your research by a supervisory team at Southeast University and Monash University.

Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that you will be able to:

    Successful completion of the program will signify that the student has successfully completed a course of postgraduate training in research under academic supervision, and has submitted a thesis that the examiners have declared to be a contribution to knowledge and which demonstrates the student's capacity to carry out independent research.

Progression to further studies

Students can transfer to the PhD course after they have successfully completed confirmation, where they have passed coursework units with a minimum grade of 80, where a panel determines that sufficient progress has been made, and the Faculty’s other requirements for entry to the PhD program have been met.

In addition, students may be required to undertake occupational health and safety training.

You must complete the following coursework:

plus one other PhD level unit from one of the Faculty of Business and Economics’ available units (as well as up to two additional PhD level units if required).
