Overview

The Professional Certificate of Human Resource Management is a forward focused and evidence-based engagement with HR’s role in the emerging environment characterised by change and uncertainty. With a focus on ‘the future of work’ and ‘the future of HRM’ you will learn about current views regarding the changing nature of HRM brought about by changes to the organisational and employment context. This includes contemporary challenges such as COVID and other major disruptions now and in the future, technological disruption, sustainability (of work, organisations and the environment) and an emerging challenge of the ‘human’ element of organisational success.

The course is designed to meet your needs if you are interested in entering HRM or interested in enhancing your qualification as a solid basis for your HRM careers. The course will give you HR knowledge and hence capabilities to develop effective and progressive responses to HR challenges faced by contemporary organisations and the people they engage.

The course comprises two units where you will be introduced to Human Resource Management theory and practice at a graduate level.

The course comprises 12 credit points of study.

Units are 6 credit points unless otherwise stated.

You must complete two units from the following (12 credit points):

MGO5100 People and change
MGO5110 Sustainability and performance in human resource management
MGO5120 Ethics and legal issues in human resource management
MGO5130 Diversity and inclusion

Entry requirements

English language

Monash minimum: Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test.

Progression to further studies

Successful completion of this course may provide a pathway to the Graduate Certificate of Human Resource Management (B4012) subject to satisfying the appropriate entry requirements. Credit may be granted towards other Faculty of Business and Economics postgraduate courses upon successful completion.
