Double degree courses include the features of the component degree courses, except that electives may be reduced.
Artificial intelligence
C2005 Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence is a specialist course, structured in four parts. In this double degree you complete:
Part A. Foundation studies
AI foundation studies introduce programming, data and evaluation, technology impacts, and AI systems and tools, including secure and responsible use of AI-enabled systems.
Part B. Specialist studies
AI specialist studies deepen capabilities in major areas of contemporary AI practice and advanced topics.
Part C. Practice studies
Practice studies provide a structured, industry-embedded project spine through which you apply your knowledge in progressively more complex contexts, including project scoping, design, implementation, evaluation, governance, and capstone delivery.
Biomedical Science
M2003 Bachelor of Biomedical Science provide an interdisciplinary approach to the study of biomedical science. Through completion of the core biomedical/BMS units you will learn about the foundations of biomedical sciences, the body in health and disease, and the role of biomedical sciences in society. Scientific, academic and professional skill development is integrated across the course to prepare you for the workplace or further study. You will be building a foundation for a career in the biomedical and health sciences, with your training beginning on day one with our exceptional learning opportunities and education delivery from leading experts in their field.
In this double degree you will complete all Part A Core studies which comprises:
Foundations of Biomedical Sciences
You will gain an understanding of core scientific concepts which underpin biomedical science disciplines; including chemistry, biology and physics.
Biomedicine of health and disease
Understanding the structure and function of cells, tissues, organ systems and the body in health and disease across the lifespan is a cornerstone of biomedical science. Through your degree you will learn about these concepts through the contexts of biomedical disciplines such as anatomy, biochemistry, bioinformatics, developmental biology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, pharmacology and physiology.
Biomedicine and society
Across your degree you will learn about the impact of biomedical science in society and how it shapes our community. This includes how biomedical research breakthroughs are translated to clinical application and their impact on health policy, the broader societal contexts of health and disease through study of epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, evidenced-based medicine, health care systems and global health challenges.
Research methods and techniques
Interwoven through the core units of this course, you will learn about research methods and participate in highly engaging laboratory practicals in world-class facilities. This includes learning about research design including observational and experimental design, and research and laboratory techniques. Across your degree you will learn how to collect, analyse, interpret and communicate data to targeted audiences. You will also have the opportunity to engage with world-leading researchers and learn about their cutting-edge research.
Personal and professional development
In addition to the scientific knowledge and research skills you will acquire across your degree, you will also have the opportunity to develop employability skills including communication, teamwork and critical thinking; with inclusion and diversity in mind. To further prepare you for the workforce, you will engage in a course-wide professional and personal development program which includes wellbeing, career development, and professionalism.

Other information
Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Science are constantly evolving disciplines that actively respond to a rapidly changing world.
In this double degree you will be prepared to become an industry-ready practitioner of artificial intelligence (AI), with technical proficiency in AI foundations to plan, develop, deploy, and manage AI solutions that responsibly solve complex real-world problems across.
The Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence component is a practice-centred, industry-embedded AI degree with emphasis on real-world application, responsible delivery, and production deployment of AI-enabled systems. You will develop capabilities in programming, data and evaluation, AI systems and tools, and advanced AI topics, alongside professional skills in communication, governance, ethics, privacy, security, safety, and project delivery.
Across the double degree, you will learn how to translate complex real-world problems into AI-related tasks, evaluate whether AI is appropriate for a given business use case, and design solutions that align with stakeholder needs, operational constraints, governance obligations, and business objectives. You will complete the course with a combination of AI technical capability and design knowledge, supporting careers in AI-enabled business transformation, AI product and solution delivery, analytics, operations, and innovation.
Biomedical science is one of the most contemporary areas of medicine - think IVF, a cure for cancer and new life-saving vaccines. This rapidly-growing industry requires people with the skills to commercialise biomedical research, or apply commercial knowledge and understanding in research environments.
Within this double degree course you have the opportunity to develop the technical and research skills required in the biomedical fields, while also developing a strong understanding of the realities of research as a commercial endeavour.
You can combine your majors to explore areas of interest or develop new ones:
Study human genetics and actuarial studies to look at the implications of genetic disease for health providers or insurance companies.
Combine immunology with economics to gain an understanding of how disease impacts political, legal, social and cultural activities around the world.
Use your marketing skills to promote medical research or health campaigns.
Work in a business development role in international biomedical companies to create new opportunities for research.
