Artificial intelligence

C2005 Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence is a specialist course, structured in four parts. In this double degree you complete:

Part A. Foundation studies 

AI foundation studies introduce programming, data and evaluation, technology impacts, and AI systems and tools, including secure and responsible use of AI-enabled systems.

Part B. Specialist studies 

AI specialist studies deepen capabilities in major areas of contemporary AI practice and advanced topics.

Part C. Practice studies 

Practice studies provide a structured, industry-embedded project spine through which you apply your knowledge in progressively more complex contexts, including project scoping, design, implementation, evaluation, governance, and capstone delivery.

Health Sciences

M2014 Bachelor of Health Sciences develops through the following themes which are interwoven throughout the course. In this double degree you complete:

Personal and professional development

These studies will develop your understanding of the roles, responsibilities and expectations of health professionals and the personal and professional attributes you will need in the workplace. These include communication and interpersonal skills, teamwork, critical thinking, ethical and legal issues, and reflective practice. You will also learn about research methodologies and the application of research to the field of health.

Population, communities, health and illness

The focus of these studies is the social, environmental and behavioural contexts of ill health, disease and injury and broad societal issues such as health promotion, the application of epidemiology and statistics in the assessment of health risk in populations, public health, community diversity, population and global health. You will also develop a sound understanding of evidence-based practice.

Scientific basis of health care practice

These studies provide the foundation scientific knowledge of human systems and technology that you will require to become an expert in your area of health science.

Artificial Intelligence and Health Sciences are constantly evolving disciplines that actively respond to a rapidly changing world.

In this double degree you will be prepared to become an industry-ready practitioner of artificial intelligence (AI), with technical proficiency in AI foundations to plan, develop, deploy, and manage AI solutions that responsibly solve complex real-world problems across. 

The Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence component is a practice-centred, industry-embedded AI degree with emphasis on real-world application, responsible delivery, and production deployment of AI-enabled systems. You will develop capabilities in programming, data and evaluation, AI systems and tools, and advanced AI topics, alongside professional skills in communication, governance, ethics, privacy, security, safety, and project delivery. 

Across the double degree, you will learn how to translate complex real-world problems into AI-related tasks, evaluate whether AI is appropriate for a given business use case, and design solutions that align with stakeholder needs, operational constraints, governance obligations, and business objectives. You will complete the course with a combination of AI technical capability and design knowledge, supporting careers in AI-enabled business transformation, AI product and solution delivery, analytics, operations, and innovation.

The Bachelor of Health Sciences will provide you with a sound foundation in health science and a broad overview of health care, and with skills in identifying, investigating, analysing and assessing health issues. This foundation provides the opportunity for you to tailor your degree to pursue a variety of career paths in the health sciences. The course is suited to those who wish to have flexibility in determining which area of the health sciences they wish to progress. The common thread is the commitment to an evidence- based approach to delivering quality health care efficiently and effectively.

You will apply scientific approaches to the study and improvement of health, considering physiological, behavioural, developmental, social and environmental aspects of human health and disease. At the conclusion of the first semester of second year, you will have the opportunity to map your own course and focus your studies on a particular area within the health sciences.
