This is a prestigious program of coursework and research in computer science for high achieving students who have completed a relevant undergraduate degree. You will undertake research methodology training and carry out an independent research project on your selected topic, working closely with a supervisor who will provide you with individual guidance and academic counselling. Course structure
Part A. Coursework studies24 credit points
You may be permitted to complete 6 credit points in selected topics (you will enrol in FIT4008 Reading unit), with permission from the thesis supervisor and honours coordinator.
A maximum of 6 credit points may be selected from units offered by other faculties with the approval of the honours coordinator.
Part B. Research studies24 credit points

This course consists of a combination of coursework and research. In the coursework component you will develop advanced theoretical and/or technical knowledge of computer science and research methodologies appropriate to your field. In the research component you will plan and execute a research project under the individual guidance of an academic supervisor.
This course comprises 48 credit points: Part A. Coursework (24 credit points) and Part B. Research (24 credit points)
Units are 6 credit points unless otherwise indicated.
Part A. Coursework (24 credit points)
You must complete the following unit (6 credit points) and 18 credit points of elective units from Level 4 or Level 5 units approved by the faculty honours coordinator (See link in the Special Note to Students for list.).
You may be permitted to complete 6 credit points in selected topics (you will enrol in FIT4008 Reading unit), with permission from the thesis supervisor and honours coordinator.
A maximum of 6 credit points may be selected from units offered by other faculties with the approval of the honours coordinator.

Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that you will be able to:

Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
