The handbook's description of this structure

The course is structured into four parts: Part A. Research and knowledge skills, Part B. Enhancement learning, Part C. Engineering specialist knowledge and application and Part D. Profesional practice

Part A. Research and knowledge skills

The focus of these studies is professional inquiry. You will address the challenges and opportunities of using and evaluating research evidence in professional practice.

Part B. Enhancement learning

In these studies, you will complete technical units aimed at deepening or adding breadth of knowledge and practices around your specialisation.

Part C. Engineering specialist knowledge and application

These units will provide you with specific and contemporary learning required for your chosen area of profession. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the engineering specialisation and develop skills to identify and apply your understanding of the contextual factors impacting the engineering discipline.

Part D. Professional practice

These units will develop your skills in readiness for the engineering workplace. You will develop skills in effective team membership and team leadership and the legal responsibilities of engineers.

Master's entry points

Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:

  • If you are admitted at entry level 1, you must complete 96 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B, Part C, and Part D.
  • If you are admitted at entry level 2, you must complete 48 credit points, comprising Part C and Part D (12 credit points).
