Overview

This is a joint PhD program between Monash University and University of Beihang.

You will undertake your doctoral studies through a collaborative arrangement between Monash University and University of Beihang. At the core of this program is the completion of a substantial research thesis on an agreed topic under the guidance of supervisors from both Monash and University of Beihang.

Upon completion of this joint PhD program, you will be able to demonstrate that you have successfully designed and executed a research project that makes an original and substantial contribution to your discipline.

Course structure

Residency: Each student will be required to undertake a minimum 12 months stay at each institution during the course of their enrolment, as agreed to by their supervisors

Progress Reviews/Milestones: Each student will complete, at a minimum, the annual progress reviews of their home institution or as outlined in the relevant Memorandum of Understanding and/or student schedule.

Oral defence - It is University of Beihang's responsibility to appoint an examination advisor whose responsibility is to make the necessary arrangements with the examiners, the student and both institutions over the time and place of the oral defence. The Chair of Examiners at Monash University, normally the Director of Graduate Research, must be kept informed of all relevant progression.

Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that you will be able to:

    Successful completion of the program will signify that the student has successfully completed a course of advanced research training under expert academic supervision, and has submitted a thesis that the examiners have declared to be a significant contribution to knowledge and which demonstrates the student's capacity to carry out independent, original research.

    The course learning outcomes are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework level 10.
