Overview
This is a joint PhD program between Monash University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University(SJTU).
You will undertake your doctoral studies through a collaborative arrangement between Monash University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. At the core of this program is the completion of a substantial research thesis on an agreed topic under the guidance of supervisors from both Monash and SJTU.
Upon completion of this joint PhD program, you will be able to demonstrate that you have successfully designed and executed a research project that makes an original and substantial contribution to your discipline.
Course structure
Residency: Each student will be required to undertake a minimum 12 months stay at each institution during the course of their enrolment, as agreed to by their supervisors
Progress Reviews/Milestones: Each student will complete, at a minimum, the annual progress reviews of their home institution or as outlined in the relevant Memorandum of Understanding and/or student schedule.
Oral defence - It is SJTU's responsibility to appoint an examination advisor whose responsibility is to make the necessary arrangements with the examiners, the student and both institutions over the time and place of the oral defence. The Chair of Examiners at Monash University, normally the Director of Graduate Research, must be kept informed of all relevant progression.
