Overview
This course is designed for those who wish to study psychology and understand the complexities of human behaviour and the biological, psychological and social factors that contribute to individual group and community processes. You will learn about how psychological, social and personality factors influence thinking and behaviour as well as how interventions can be applied to help people lead more satisfying and meaningful lives.
Your required study includes the core sequence of psychology units and in addition you will have the opportunity to complete a major stream of study such as mental health and wellbeing, neuroscience, applied psychology or public health, designed to give you a broad understanding of psychological science in practice. This understanding will form the basis of knowledge and skills for the pursuit of research or practice in a range of postgraduate programs.
Your studies will enable you to pursue a career in a diverse range of fields including research, mental health and welfare, human resources, community services and counselling, education and health services. You could also undertake further steps to qualify to practice as a professional psychologist or pursue a career in counselling, welfare, social work, human resources, marketing or research.
