Graduate Certificate of Addictive Behaviours
M4018
Overview
The Graduate Certificate of Addictive Behaviours is a modular online postgraduate course with a strongly interactive and dynamic focus, delivered by multidisciplinary experts in the field. It is offered in partnership with Turning Point, an internationally renowned clinical treatment and research centre.
The course provides you with foundational knowledge and skills to recognise and respond to substance use disorders and other addictive behaviours. You will become familiar with theories and models of addiction and examine research evidence and how this has informed contemporary policy and public health responses, including harm minimisation initiatives. Practice-relevant education on the application of screening and assessment tools for the identification of people experiencing addiction will be complemented by an introduction to evidence-based addiction treatment and support options. This course furthermore explores current self-care and self-management strategies to support wellbeing and resilience, when working with people affected by addiction.
The Graduate Certificate of Addictive Behaviours is designed for individuals currently employed as a registered health professional (e.g., general practitioner, nurse, psychologist) or in the alcohol and other drug sector (AOD), but is also suitable for graduates in medicine, psychology, health sciences, occupational therapy, social work, social and community welfare professionals, and those engaged in criminal justice, criminology, law, mental health, and public policy. It enables you to continue your professional development, improve your academic skills and gain a rewarding and satisfying educational experience.
