Overview
Monash Paramedicine is a world leader in education and research and provides you with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate core attributes pertinent to advanced practice, including professionalism, leadership, teamwork, patient-centred care, reflective practice, and advanced clinical reasoning.
This online course allows you to improve your clinical practice and knowledge in the delivery of aeromedical retrieval services, preparing you for future positions in clinical practice, leadership and coordination roles.
The development of advanced techniques and treatment regimes, coupled with an understanding of local and global aeromedical retrieval systems will enable you to provide out-of-hospital care to patients in a diverse range of situations at the highest level.
Course structure
Core units12 credit points

Elective 16 credit points
Note: Selection is based on clinical experience and current level of practice. You require the course coordinator's approval to enrol in PAR5240.
Elective 26 credit points
Note: Selection is based on clinical experience and current level of practice. You require the course coordinator's approval to enrol in PAR5250.

The course comprises four units which provide knowledge and skills in aeromedical retrieval.

You must complete the following units (12 points)
- PAR5200 Introduction to aeromedical and retrieval concepts
- PAR5210 Professional practice in aeromedical retrieval
You must complete one of the following units
- PAR5230 Aeromedical retrieval coordination, OR
- PAR5240 Aeromedical retrieval rescue for intensive care paramedics
You must complete one of the following units
- PAR5220 Aeromedical and retrieval clinical 1: Advanced life support/critical care, OR
- PAR5250 Aeromedical and retrieval clinical 2: Intensive care
Selection is based on clinical experience and current level of practice. Enrolment in PAR5240 and PAR5250 will require Course Coordinator approval.

demonstrate personal and professional development through critical review of your own clinical practice and identification of suitable learning experiences to meet your developmental needs

identify local and global networks that support and enhance aeromedical retrieval practice

demonstrate clinical competence in the aeromedical retrieval setting using a patient-centric, systematic clinical approach, that utilises effective communication techniques and advanced clinical problem solving

identify, describe, design and evaluate enhancements to aeromedical and retrieval practice using the best available evidence and appropriate frameworks

review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise a variety of resources in order to respond to aeromedical and retrieval health issues.
Entry requirements
English language
Monash level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
