The Monash Indonesia Master of Public Health provides the full range of quantitative, analytical and communication skills necessary to work in the broad domain of public health. It also provides skills in the quantitative methods of the population-based health sciences and their problem-solving application for primary care provision within Australia and developing countries.

The handbook's description of this structure
The course is structured in three parts: Part A. Expanding public health knowledge, Part B. Foundations of public health studies and Part C. Advanced application expertise.
Part A. Foundations of public health studies
In these studies, you will gain specialised professional knowledge in the core skills, knowledge, and disciplines of public health through the study of epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion and planning, and introduction and challenges in public health.
Part B. Expanding public health knowledge
In these studies, you will develop an understanding of knowledge and skills in the broad domain of public health through core studies in the public health discipline area of infections and chronic disease, research methods and clinical trials.
Part C. Advanced application expertise
In these studies you will apply skills and knowledge to public health delivery, clinical leadership and management and examine occupational health and safety and environmental influences on health.
Part D. Electives
In these studies, you will have the opportunity to gain greater expertise in key areas of your interest through an elective study program to suit your own career interests. You will have the opportunity to choose between one of the following pathways: Coursework or Research.
In the research pathway you will work with a supervisor who will guide you in creating either a written research report of 8000 to 10000 words or a ready-for-submission article prepared for submission to a relevant , peer-reviewed academic publication.
Master's entry points
Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:
- If you are admitted at entry level 1 you complete 96 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D
- If you are admitted at entry level 2 you complete 72 credit points, comprising Part B, Part C and Part D
- If you are admitted at entry level 3 you complete 48 credit points, comprising Part C and Part D
- Entry level 2 and entry level 3 are not currently offered.
- If you are eligible for credit for prior studies you may elect not to receive the credit and complete one of the higher credit-point options.

Part C. Advanced application expertise (24 points)
You must complete:
- PHI5215 Qualitative research methods
- PHI5272 Principles of health systems
- PHI5252 Global health care delivery principles and challenges
- PHI5289 Professional practice development
Part D. Elective units (24 points)
You must complete one of the following options:
a) Option 1 (coursework pathway)

Monash Level A: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
