The course comprises a foundation studies unit where you will be introduced to clinical simulation at a graduate level.

The course comprises 12 credit points of study.

You must complete:

  • HCS5100 Foundations of health professions education: Clinical simulation

Learning outcomes

    Describe and apply theories that inform educational practice in clinical simulation

    Review contemporary teaching methods for a range of relevant contexts

  3. 3

    Plan, design, implement, assess and evaluate a simulation-based education programme 

  4. 4

    Describe and practice feedback strategies to support learning in simulation

  5. 5

    Develop a strategy for further learning as a health professions educator

Entry requirements

English language

Monash Level C, that is: IELTS (Academic): 7.0 overall (no band lower than 6.5); or Pearson Test of English (Academic):  score of 65 overall with no band lower than 58; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 94 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 24, Listening: 20, Reading: 19 and Speaking: 20; or Equivalent approved English test

Progression to further studies

Successful completion of this course may provide a pathway to the Graduate Certificate of Clinical Simulation (M4008) subject to satisfying the appropriate entry requirements. Credit may be granted towards other Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science postgraduate courses upon successful completion.
