This course will provide you with knowledge in the science and practice of psychology. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of statistical concepts and the choice of a unit exploring ethics, evidence-based approaches to psychological assessment and intervention, psychology in industry and contemporary topics in the field.
This course offers an alternative pathway to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced (GDPA) if you're unable to gain direct entry.

The handbook's description of this structure
The course comprises two units where you will be introduced to psychology at a graduate level.
The course comprises 12 credit points of study.
Units are 6 credit points unless otherwise stated.
You must complete:
- PSY4401: Psychology research project: Statistics and research design for professional psychology
and one of the following units:
- PSY4405: Ethical and professional issues in psychology
- PSY4406: Psychological assessment and intervention
- PSY4407: Psychology in industry: Pathways to employment
- PSY4408: Perspectives in clinical and developmental neuroscience
- PSY4409: 21st century applications of psychology
Learning outcomes

Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills necessary for understanding and conducting data analysis within the field of psychology

Entry requirements
English language
Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test

Progression to further studies
Successful completion of this course may provide a pathway* to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced (M5003) with credit for the two units, subject to satisfying the appropriate course entry requirements.
*To pathway to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced (M5003) students must pass with an average of 60 across the two units and not fall below 55 in any one unit.
Note: credit may be granted towards other Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science postgraduate courses upon successful completion.
