Overview
This course provides pharmacy interns the opportunity to complete an intern training program accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council and to credit this towards a postgraduate qualification. In addition to the intern training program component, you can undertake elective units relevant to pharmacy practice.
Course structure
Part A. Intern training program12 credit points
Part B. Specified elective units12 credit points
- 12 credit points from the following units; or
- 6 credit points from the following units and an approved microcredential.
Note: PHR5161 and PHR5162 must be completed alongside PHR5061 and PHR5062. To enrol in PHR5161 and PHR5162, you must be working as a provisionally registered pharmacist under the supervision of a Monash-credentialed pharmacy preceptor, trained through a program of Monash-credentialed workplace learning, at a Monash-credentialed workplace.

The course comprises 24 credit points structured into two parts: Part A. Intern training program and Part B. Specified elective studies.
Part A. Intern training program
In this part of the course, you will undertake the National Alliance for Pharmacy Education (NAPE) Intern Training Program (ITP) while developing your skills in the workplace, focusing on the competencies required to practice as a registered pharmacist.
Part B. Specified elective studies
In this part of the course, you will be able to complete elective units relevant to pharmacy practice.
If you are a registered pharmacist in Australia, you may choose to complete one of the following microcredentials in place of one of the elective units:
- Monash University Medication Management Review Training Program (MUMTP)
- Monash University Aged Care On-site Pharmacist Training Program (MUATP)
- Pharmacy Administration and Leadership
- Developing a research protocol

Entry requirements
English language
Monash Level D, that is: IELTS (Academic): 7.0 overall (no band lower than 7.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 65 overall with no band lower than 65; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score 98 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 27, Listening: 24, Reading: 24 and Speaking: 23; or Equivalent approved English test

Notes for students
Core units (PHR5061 and PHR5062) require you to attend eight days of on-campus seminars as part of the Intern Training Program. These seminars are conducted over two full days, four times during the year. Some elective units may require attendance at a Monash campus or affiliated location.
