The handbook's description of this structure
The Monash Advanced Preparation Program consists of four units. Each unit in the program is designed to build advanced skills needed to ensure a smooth transition into the first-year of university. The program runs for 16 weeks, including a a week of orientation activities and one-week mid-course break.
The MAPP includes five streams. In 2025, only the General Stream will be offered. The Arts, Social Science and Education stream, Business and Commerce stream, and the Science, Technology, Medicine and Health Sciences streams will be offered in 2026.
You must choose one of the following streams:

Business and Commerce stream (Not offered in 2025)

Progression to further studies
Upon successful completion of this program, you will have guaranteed entry into the first year of an undergraduate degree at Monash University, provided that you meet the required entry score for your chosen course, including prerequisites.
Notes for students
To be eligible to apply for an internal course transfer to gain direct admission into your chosen destination course, you must:
- pass each unit in the program on the first (and only) attempt;
- achieve the average mark required for the destination course including the prerequisites.
If you do not meet these two requirements, you are encouraged to apply for admission through VTAC or apply for a transfer to an alternative pathway program (eg Monash University Diploma).

The Monash Advanced Preparation Program is an intensive single semester pathway for successful year 12 graduates who narrowly missed the entry requirements for their desired Monash undergraduate degree. Students will undertake studies in Academic Communication and three other units aligned to their destination degrees.
You can choose from a range of subjects aligned with your preferred degree, covering all 10 faculties at Monash University. The program builds on your existing knowledge, sharpens your academic skills, and prepares you for success in your first year of university.
