Overview

This capstone unit integrates prior learning gained throughout the Bachelor of business and commerce course and prepares you for transition to a professional career and for undertaking postgraduate studies. You will be required to analyse, synthesize, critically evaluate, and apply knowledge and skills acquired over the course of your studies to real-world scenarios. You will also be required to reflect on the role of accounting in organizations and society more generally, and will develop professional judgement, as well as the key skills that are expected of accountants.

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. The unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.

This unit includes case-based teaching, where you apply your knowledge and engage in analytical and reflective thinking to solve complex contextual scenarios. Activities are often designed so that there is not one clear answer, but you need to work together to examine, analyse and make decisions to resolve the situation.
