Synopsis
This unit is based around four key topics that examine the historical and theoretical constructions of the public and publicness, including notions of the public sphere in political thought, the various forms of the digital public, the shifting notion of site specificity in visual art practice and Indigenous constructions of public space. In this unit you will participate in lectures by significant artists and industry figures working in public art and space today as well as attend field trips to various public art sites around Melbourne.
