Synopsis
You will develop the knowledge, skills and cultural awareness necessary to examine the historical, cultural, and contemporary complexities of Southeast Asian countries. You will embark on a focused exploration of Southeast Asian vibrant diversity, encompassing its rich history, cultural intricacies, and contemporary challenges.
You will commence the journey by exploring Southeast Asia's geographical and historical foundations, the unique identity forged by diverse ethnic groups and cultural landscapes. The learning journey progresses to an exploration of some of the region's main religious beliefs and their profound impact on cultural diversity. You will then navigate the social structures, traditional customs and cultural festivities practised by the societies. The final segment of the Unit will concentrate on a critical analysis of contemporary issues in the Southeast Asian region.
