Climate change communication in Malaysia
AMU2016
Synopsis
In this unit, you will consider the divide between climate science communication and the media coverage of climate change. You will examine six barriers to the successful communication of climate change: the nature of climate change itself, the nature of scientific cultures, the denialist industry around the world, the characteristics of social media versus mass media, audience attitudes and behaviours, and the roles of imagery and imagination. You will explore the communications around climate change related issues tailored to the Malaysian context including electricity, transport, food, forests, waste management, and water.
