Overview

In this intensive unit, students synthesize and apply the knowledge acquired throughout the MIR of the disciplinary perspectives, theories, and methods in International Relations to practical policy issues in global politics. Students integrate and build upon what they have learned in the degree while demonstrating intellectual creativity in analysing policy problems. The unit is led by a Monash academic, with a series of policy and practitioner experts in their fields contributing to the content of the course through presentations of their first-hand knowledge of tricky political problems. The content of the course may include terrorism, global governance, democratization, environmental security, trade, law and other topics in international relations. The goal of the unit is to allow students to bring together the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the MIR into a contemporary policy project.
