Overview

This unit focuses on the approaches used to engage communities and populations for the development of effective and inclusive health policy. Students will develop understanding of the principles of community engagement with specific reference to the health and wellbeing needs of individuals and communities facing social and economic exclusion, stigma and prejudice and other forms of social exclusion. Topics will include Indigenous health, migrant health, LGBT health, disability, and mental health. The unit will be of interest for students in public policy, public health, health promotion, psychology, gender studies and development studies.
