Synopsis
In this unit, you will explore two components of interpreting:
- An introduction to the history, theory and principles of interpreting, professional contexts of interpreting and research, and
- Introduction to cognitive processes involved in interpreting. The practice of meaning transfer utilising linguistic and cultural skills required in interpreting.
You will obtain the foundational skills required for interpreting through a range of teaching and learning activities, such as an introduction to note taking for interpreting, practices to improve working memory, and exercises to develop public speaking skills.
