Synopsis

In this unit, you will explore two components of interpreting:

  1. An introduction to the history, theory and principles of interpreting, professional contexts of interpreting and research, and
  2. Introduction to cognitive processes involved in interpreting. The practice of meaning transfer utilising linguistic and cultural skills required in interpreting.

You will obtain the foundational skills required for interpreting through a range of teaching and learning activities, such as an introduction to note taking for interpreting, practices to improve working memory, and exercises to develop public speaking skills.
