Synopsis

In this unit, you will explore two components of interpreting:

You will be introduced to theories, principles, and techniques of community interpreting. This includes introduction to ethical principles of interpreting, aspects of non-verbal communication fundamental to consecutive interpreting, and preparation techniques for dialogue interpreting.

You will also encounter the practice of consecutive interpreting at an introductory level: dialogue interpreting and short speech interpreting. This includes coordination of different tasks in interpreting, aspects of meaning processing, memorization and delivery, including public speaking training.
