Synopsis
This unit explores the capacity of media and communications to advance social change. It provides you with an appreciation of how media discourse and representation have shaped our understanding of important social issues and conflicts. It also explores media and communications have been used creatively and strategically to address significant social problems. Drawing on a range of global case studies of social change media, the unit provides you with an opportunity to critically assess the extent to which media organisations, institutions and practices can shape public debates, illuminate important issues and serve social benefits.
