Synopsis
This unit seeks to equip you with an understanding of cultural policy, developing conceptual and analytical skills for its framing, contextualised in specific social, political and economic contexts and purposes. It theorises the origin, formulation, operation and impact of policies for culture and creativity in contemporary society. The unit focusses on global, national and local policies that have nurtured the cultural and creative industries, identifying objectives for and debates about the production of value - economic and social. It examines the impact of cultural policy on historical, existing and future practices by businesses, agencies, institutions and communities of interest
