Synopsis
This unit explores the mechanisms underpinning screen image perception and comprehension. By examining how our mind, brain and body work in tandem when engaging with the screen, it explains how the screen image moves viewers and to what effects. It covers aspects of narrative comprehension, image decoding, an embodied sense of movement, absorption and immersion, concluding by examining how artificial intelligence and machine learning might revolutionise screen media.
