Overview

This unit offers you the opportunity to design and produce a bespoke portfolio of work that crystallises and showcases skill sets acquired during your master’s-by-coursework degree. You will draw on your prior learning of cross-media communication skills, media research methods, critical analysis of the contemporary challenges and developments in media and communications industries, and evaluation of their impact on wider social and political contexts. During the unit, you are guided in undertaking the production of your portfolio in a medium and format that best demonstrate your interests and proficiencies, with a view specifically to your future employability.

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

    Conceptualise and develop a proposal for a portfolio of work, including research requirements, project design and production requirements;

    Explain and rationalise your work and respond to critical feedback, through regular Work In Progress processes;

    Produce a portfolio that demonstrates engagement with, understanding of, and interpretation of research, knowledge, issues and practices in your discipline;

    Utilise effective time- and project-management skills in planning, producing and completing a portfolio of new work.
