Prerequisite: This unit is only available to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Music single or double degree - Music performance or Ethnomusicology and musicology specialisations.

Overview

In this unit you will develop foundational music performance skills through preparation and presentation of performance materials such as technical work, studies, solo and collaborative repertoire suitable for first year tertiary level. You will engage in solo, ensemble and collaborative performance activities, as you develop a holistic artistic practice.

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

     Demonstrate a foundational level of instrumental/vocal technique, including control of rhythm, articulation, accuracy, timbre, dynamics and intonation (where applicable);

    Prepare and present performance materials such as technical requirements, studies, solo repertoire and/or collaborative repertoire suitable for first year tertiary level;

  3. 3

    Demonstrate a foundational level of professional musicianship and/or creativity, including appropriate artistic expression, improvisation and/or technology as appropriate;

  4. 4

    Demonstrate holistic artistic practice through awareness of musicians' health and wellbeing issues relevant to performance.
