Introduction to Philosophy: Knowledge, freedom and the self
ATS1835
Synopsis
This unit provides an introduction to philosophical reflection on a range of issues relating to human nature. What do we know? Do we have free will? What is language? What is the nature of the self? Not only will you be introduced to a range of answers to these (and other) questions, you will also be equipped with a variety of philosophical tools. These tools will enable you to both evaluate accounts of these central aspects of human nature, and to begin to develop your own accounts of these phenomena.
Sourced from the Monash Handbook 2026.
