Overview
This unit aims to develop students into socially responsible practitioners who can adapt to the diverse demands of their professions in an increasingly globalised world. In this unit, students explore intercultural competence as cultural difference, as well as its application in professional contexts. We examine the professions of journalism, media, film, public relations and culture as cultural activities, investigating the relationship between these professions, and incorporating recent scholarship exploring the impact of globalization. Students will explore contemporary scholarship on the processes of intercultural competence, and develop the necessary intellectual skills to be successful in their future intercultural interactions.
