Synopsis
In this unit you will explore the social dynamics of young people’s lives in contemporary society, with a specific focus on social change and justice. We will tackle questions such as: What challenges do young people face in contemporary society as they transition towards ‘adulthood’? How do media and technologies shape how young people are understood, and how young people see themselves? What opportunities are there to improve young people's lives, and centre young people as agents of change in uncertain futures? Topics you will cover in this unit include: youth cultures and identities, justice-involvement, crime and victimisation, changing transitions to adulthood, media and internet engagement, citizenship and social change, work, and leisure.
