Overview
How do you stay open and engaged when stakes are high? How do you respond to what's unfolding in the moment? How do you create something together that none of us could do alone? In this unit, you will use improvisation techniques from theatre and performance to develop skills for navigating uncertainty, generating creative solutions, and building meaningful collaborations across diverse creative, professional and personal contexts. Through improvisation exercises, games, and scene work, you'll build your capacity to listen deeply and stay present, think creatively under pressure, build on others' ideas, read social dynamics in real-time, and reframe failure as information and opportunity.
You'll learn by doing—through practice in a playful, supportive ensemble where experimentation and risk-taking are celebrated. And you will collaborate across disciplines to explore how improvisational principles apply to real-world challenges such as creative collaborations, client pitches, corporate teambuilding, patient consultations, and public debates.
