Overview
Designed to ensure that you have the skills and experience to operate in contemporary workplaces, the Global Encounters program is delivered across diverse, virtual and real-world learning settings. You will undertake a pre-program course online, which will introduce you to the Indigenous history and culture, models of Indigenous entrepreneurship and the cultural and creative industries that offer a platform for addressing social and environmental challenges. As part of the unit, you will travel to local Indigenous lands in Melbourne and Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory to learn from local community leaders about the historical, cultural and intellectual traditions that have shaped models of Indigenous entrepreneurship and the creative and cultural industries. Further, you will explore the historical relationship between Indigenous Australian and Indigenous communities in Makassar, Indonesia. Learning from local Indigenous communities and cultural organisations, you will gain an insight into the nature of business and community engagement, which seeks to re-shape and encourage the way Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people collaborate.
