When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

   comprehend and write upper-intermediate level Japanese texts on a range of topics independently and with increasing critical engagement with appropriate dictionaries and technologies;

   demonstrate upper-intermediate level proficiency in speaking and listening comprehension including using appropriate speech styles and culturally relevant communication strategies in casual conversations and formal presentations about a variety of topics related to Japanese culture and society in global contexts;

   recognise and effectively use approximately 620 kanji characters (150 new characters);

   apply appropriate research skills in individual and collective investigations of Japanese culture and society using available technologies and appropriate English and Japanese materials.
