The unit consists of two integrated and complementary components: Language 50% and Culture 50%.
Culture: will consolidate and extend work done in ATS2226/ATS3226 on twentieth century history and society with a focus to the later part of the twentieth century and to more contemporary times. It will concentrate on the cultural production of that period, with a focus on complex linguistic, literary, and social issues.
Language: will consolidate and further develop the language work done in ATS3227 and further extend language acquisition commensurate to the level B2/C1 of the European Framework by exploring register variations and discourse strategies, reviewing syntax area considered problematic and consolidating oral and written expression. The thematic areas covered in the culture seminars will form the basis for some reading comprehension, writing and discussion covered in the language component.
