The unit investigates German Romanticism as a historical period and as cultural theory which shapes the understanding of German culture until today. The analysis of exemplary texts (late 18th-21st century) will help to understand the profound effects and returns of romantic ideas as they impact the intellectual as well as political landscapes of Germany.
